Things to do in Playa de las americas, Tenerife, Spain?

Going on holiday there with a group of friends in the summer. Wondering what people would recommend doing? We know about the waterpark and animal place and the volcano. Are there are any fairs? Where are the good beaches, shops, nightlife etc? Thanks.
